Editor: The contractor says the inspection report proves the bridge was unsafe. We have an anonymous email with a photograph and a public document showing repairs were delayed. Reporter: The photograph's date is unclear, and the document lists maintenance work but does not identify a safety finding. A former engineer is willing to speak on the record, though only about the inspection process. Editor: Could we ask the transport agency for the full report and confirm the photograph with its original source? Reporter: Yes. The engineer can explain what the process requires, but cannot verify this particular image. We should also contact the contractor and give them time to respond. Editor: Agreed. We can report that repairs were delayed once we confirm the document, but we should not say the bridge was unsafe unless the evidence supports that claim.
